Solid & Liquid Waste – Sustainable Utilization of Non-Hazardous Solid Waste

• Empty Fruit Bunches (EFB) are utilized as compost and organic fertilizer, supporting soil fertility and reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers.
• Fiber and Shells are used as biomass energy sources for palm oil mill (POM) operations, contributing to internal energy efficiency.
• Boiler ash and solids are also processed for agricultural use and soil reinforcement.
  
  

Liquid Waste (Palm Oil Mill Effluent/POME)

• Treated through physical and biological processes before being used as liquid fertilizer on plantations.
• A significant portion of POME is also used as a raw material for biogas production, representing a tangible step in supporting renewable energy.
  
  

Hazardous Waste (B3) Management

• Hazardous waste generated from operational activities, such as used oil and chemicals, is stored and processed in accordance with government regulations.
• Transportation and disposal processes are conducted in collaboration with certified third parties, ensuring safety and compliance with environmental standards.

3R Principle (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)

MKTR implements the 3R principles in all waste management activities with the aim to:

• Reduce the volume of waste generated.
• Reuse waste that is still usable.
• Recycle waste into value-added products.

Monitoring & Compliance

• MKTR regularly conducts waste quality monitoring and emission measurements to ensure that all processes comply with national environmental regulations.
• Internal and external audits are carried out to ensure that waste management practices meet the standards of the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) and the company’s sustainability policies.
