Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - As Eid al-Fitr approaches, entrepreneurs are not only preoccupied with spikes in demand and business operations. But there is one other thing that often arises, namely the arrival of groups of community organizations (Ormas) who ask for holiday allowances (THR).
Sahat Sinaga, Chairman of the Indonesian Palm Oil Council (DMSI), said that the actions of thugs from mass organizations have gone too far. Even one of the well-known mass organizations in Indonesia had sealed a palm oil mill. Not given THR, he said, the mass organizations usually looted palm oil in the plantation.
“The surrounding community and mass organizations began to loot the palms. This incident is rampant in Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan), East Kalimantan (East Kalimantan) and Riau,” he told CNBC Indonesia, Thursday (3/20/2025).
Sahat was also upset by the actions of the mass organization.
“It is increasingly troubling for industry in Indonesia,” he said.
He asked the Regional Government to be firm and protect industry players. Do not let things like this happen continuously which makes industry players restless and uncomfortable doing business in Indonesia.
“There should be an announcement from the Ministry of Home Affairs or regional governments so that industrial and plantation companies or other types of businesses do not serve requests for donations of any kind from any party that disturbs the comfort of business peace in Indonesia,” he explained.
