MKTR Achieves TOP CSR Star 4 and National CSR Commitment 2025 Award

The 2025 TOP CSR Awards were presented to several leading companies from various business sectors in Indonesia on Wednesday (June 11, 2025). Held at the Raffles Hotel Jakarta, the 2025 TOP CSR Awards continue a tradition that began in 2016.

The event was attended by nearly 700 people from various backgrounds, including CEOs/company leaders who received awards, government officials, media representatives, and others.

Several major names emerged as recipients of the 2025 TOP CSR Awards, representing a wide range of sectors. One of the award-winning companies was PT Menthobi Karyatama Raya Tbk (IDX: MKTR).

At this event, MKTR earned two prestigious and distinguished awards:

  • TOP CSR AWARDS 2025 # STAR 4, and

  • TOP LEADER ON CSR COMMITMENT 2025, awarded to Nadhif Kasyvilla, Commissioner of MKTR.

The TOP CSR Awards are organized by TopBusiness Magazine in collaboration with several institutions and experts, including the Indonesian Governance Professional Association (PAGI), GRC Association, LKN AstaCita, CoreBest, MB Consulting (Mitra Bhadra Consulting), ISVI (Institut Shared Value Indonesia), SKB (Solusi Kinerja Bisnis), SDP (Sinergi Daya Prima), Dwika Consulting, Melani K. Hariman and Associates, as well as other CSR experts and consultants.

Nadhif Kasyvilla, often called Nadhif, was present in person to receive the awards.
“Alhamdulillah, today we received an extraordinary recognition. We were awarded TOP LEADER COMMITMENT on CSR and TOP CSR Awards Star 4. For us at Menthobi, CSR is not just a mandatory responsibility but a commitment from the beginning — where we aim to maximize collaboration with all stakeholders,” he said after receiving the award.

“This award is dedicated to the entire MKTR team, as well as to all our farmer partners and the communities who have committed to walk this journey with us,” he added.

“Insha’Allah, this award will strengthen our motivation and commitment going forward, to continue driving innovation and enhancing collaboration. So that it creates a more positive impact on the communities surrounding our plantations in Central Kalimantan,” Nadhif emphasized.

Earlier, M. A. Pahlevi Pangerang, Director of Sustainability & Partnership at MKTR, stated that the core of the company’s CSR program is based on the Trimitra Harmoni concept, which involves the company, government, and community.

“All of them are part of the same ecosystem. This is the principle we uphold. So, we aim to maintain a balanced relationship among the three parties. In addition, we firmly embrace the spirit of a zero-waste plantation, where even waste is always processed,” he explained. “We are fully committed to establishing a zero-waste agribusiness,” he affirmed.

As a palm oil plantation company, Pahlevi noted that the company’s presence in Central Kalimantan must bring benefits to the area where it operates.
“There are three villages we focus on in our CSR programs. One of our initiatives is to promote a partnership model through the establishment of cooperatives. This partnership is implemented through two schemes: mandatory plasma and partner plasma,” Pahlevi elaborated.

He further explained that currently MKTR manages 8,500 hectares of planted oil palm area, supported by two palm oil mills with a total processing capacity of 60 tons per hour (TPH). Additionally, the company operates two organic fertilizer plants with a total capacity of 8 TPH, one kernel crushing plant with a capacity of 60 tons per day (TPD), and one biomass pellet pilot project plant with a capacity of 2 TPD.

Sustainable Business

The keynote speaker, Director General of the Acceleration of Development in Disadvantaged Regions (PDT) of the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration (Kemendes PDTT), Samsul Widodo, conveyed several key messages. Among them, he said, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programs by large companies should ideally be directed toward village communities, especially those that now receive substantial village funds.

“In this regard, CSR can be directed to support programs that accompany the MBG (Free Nutritious Meals) Program. This would take the form of support for village farmers,” said Samsul.

With potentially around 30,000 MBG kitchens, he noted, there will certainly be a need for a steady supply of food ingredients. In this context, village farmers can play a significant role.

“For that, they need guidance and assistance, which can be provided through CSR programs. That way, CSR can automatically contribute to Indonesia’s food system,” Samsul emphasized.

Furthermore, Samsul stated that village funds have essentially eliminated financial shortages in villages. Each year, the value of village funds can reach hundreds of trillions of rupiah. So, while villagers do not lack funding, guidance is needed to ensure that the funds are used effectively to stimulate the village economy.

“Therefore, it would be highly beneficial if corporate CSR initiatives focused on providing such guidance,” he added.

Chairman of the 2024 TOP CSR Awards, M. Lutfi Handayani, MM., MBA., stated that the theme for the 2025 event is: CSR for Sustainable Business Growth and Asta Cita Government Programs.

Lutfi, who is also Editor-in-Chief of TopBusiness magazine, said the theme is intended to encourage companies operating in Indonesia to implement CSR programs that support sustainable business growth. “And to support the achievement of the Asta Cita programs of the Red and White Cabinet for 2024–2029,” he said.

Lutfi added that another goal of the 2025 TOP CSR Awards is to encourage the implementation of CSR in line with ISO 26000 SR (Social Responsibility), which serves as a global guideline for companies in executing CSR programs.

Since the ISO 26000 SR standard was established in November 2010 as an international guideline for the implementation of social responsibility, CSR is no longer merely the responsibility of the CSR or community development division. Instead, it involves all divisions within a company, with the president director as the main person responsible.

There are principles and seven core subjects of social responsibility in ISO 26000, the implementation of which requires the involvement of all divisions. For example, one of the core subjects is labor practices. In this area, companies must respect labor rights, prevent discrimination and exploitation, and ensure employee health and safety.

The definition of social responsibility in ISO 26000 SR is also clearly stated: it is the responsibility for the impacts of a company’s decisions and operations. If every company takes responsibility for the impacts it creates, then many of the problems in this country would resolve themselves.

“This is one of the key goals of holding the TOP CSR Awards — to improve the quality and effectiveness of CSR programs of companies operating in Indonesia, so that national problems can be resolved naturally, paving the way for a more advanced and prosperous Indonesia,” Lutfi added.

The 2025 TOP CSR Awards were joined by nearly 1,000 companies across Indonesia (long list of participants). A total of 238 companies registered, and 218 companies completed the full assessment process. “This number is up by 20.2% compared to the 198 participants in 2024,” Lutfi noted.

The TOP CSR Awards are not merely about presenting awards, but also serve as a shared learning and educational platform to improve the overall quality of CSR in Indonesia.

Aligned with Business Strategy

The Chairman of the Jury for the TOP CSR Awards 2025, Dr. Mas Achmad Daniri, conveyed several important points at the grand event of the TOP CSR Awards 2025. He stated that in the modern era, CSR is no longer merely about donations, philanthropy, or social assistance. Today, CSR is an integral part of corporate business strategy. It serves to enhance the company’s reputation as a responsible entity, increase stakeholder engagement across the business value chain, and reduce business risks.

In fact, investors and financial institutions now require effective CSR implementation, carried out through the adoption of the ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) approach.

Daniri added that to ensure corporate CSR programs are more effective and mutually beneficial, companies can design and implement them using the Creating Shared Value (CSV) approach. This approach aims to provide win-win benefits for surrounding communities, stakeholders such as local governments, and the companies themselves.

The assessment criteria for the TOP CSR Awards 2025 are as follows:
First, the alignment of CSR initiatives with the company’s sustainable business strategy.
Second, the level of adoption of CSR policies and programs in accordance with ISO 26000:2010 Social Responsibility.
Third, the governance system for CSR (related to planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, etc.).
Fourth, innovative flagship CSR programs that can serve as examples or be recommended to other companies.
Fifth, identification of material ESG impacts on the business and management strategies to ensure continued sustainable growth.

The TOP Leader on CSR Commitment 2025 award is presented to company leaders who are deemed to have shown strong commitment in supporting the completeness of systems, governance, and successful CSR implementation within their companies.

“We hope that every company will have a business roadmap that takes into account aspects of climate change and energy transition. In the future, regulations related to climate change and energy transition will become increasingly strict in order to support sustainable development,” Daniri concluded.
